Results of the 44th International School-Conference “Advanced Problems in Mechanics”
From 27th June to 2nd July the 44th International School-Conference “Advanced Problems in Mechanics” (APM) took place at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University under the aegis of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
The main goal of the event was to help specialists in various fields of theoretical and applied mechanics to get together in order to discuss new ideas and non-typical problems in these spheres, as well as to help young specialist to broaden their minds. The list of issues to be discussed included practically all aspects of modern mechanics. Great attention was paid to issues at the junction of mechanics and other fields of knowledge, which stimulate research in micro- and nanomechanics, materials science, solid state physics, molecular physics, astrophysics, etc.
Well-known Russian and foreign scientists made speeches at the plenary session. The average h-index of the speakers exceeded 30. Plenary papers were presented by renowned Russian scientists: academician V.A. Babeshko (Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director of the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics); academician V.A. Levin (Lomonosov Moscow State University, Institute of Mechanics, Director of the laboratory “Gas Dynamics of Explosion and Reactive Systems”); prof. A.M. Krivtsov (Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Director of the Department of Theoretical Mechanics; Institute of Problems of Mechanical Engineering RAS; Director of the Department of Discrete Models in Mechanics); prof. S.A. Lurie (the Institute of Applied Mechanics RAS, Chief Researcher); prof. A.M. Linkov (Institute of Problems of Mechanical Engineering RAS, Chief Researcher); prof. A.V. Porubov (Institute of Problems of Mechanical Engineering RAS, Leading Research Scientist); E.F. Grekova (Institute of Problems of Mechanical Engineering RAS, Senior Research Scientist).
