New trends in higher education were discussed at the International Education Summit EduChanging-2015

In the middle of October the International Educational Summit «EduChanging-2015: Education-Technology-Innovation for the future" took place. The venue for the meeting was the innovation center Skolkovo, which is the main Russian platform for the development of innovation and business activities of the youth. In this summit Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University was represented by Yevgeniya Tuchkevich, the director of «Autodesk-Polytechnic".

The discussion devoted to the future of education was held with the participation of Rendi Svirer, the Vice-President of Autodesk Education, Herbert Bikelmann, the manager of Autodesk educational programs in Europe, Middle East and Africa, Dmitriy Postelnik, the manager of educational programs in CIS and Georgia, the representatives of Autodesk Russian office, and Andrey Yegorov, the head of "Public University" of the Skolkovo Fund et al.

"All the diversity of technology that we have, should be reflected in teaching methods and techniques. The projects I know have achieved success due to the fact that people tried to solve complex problems, collaborated in making decisions and were willing to learn new things," that’s how Rendi Svirer, the Vice-President of Autodesk Education, inspired the students and academic staff of Russian universities.

During the presentations of foreign and Russian speakers, as well as in practical workshops the summit participants found out about the initiatives to support and develop the project and business activities of the youth. They also mastered the techniques and tools for the transformation of educational process which is focused on creating innovation in the project activities. And, finally, they studied the successful experience of creating and developing youth start-ups and discussed the questions of training highly qualified specialists for innovation economy.

"In the Polytechnic University we try to actively introduce new technology into the educational process and research activity, adopting a successful international experience and cooperating with world's leading companies," says Yevgeniya Tuchkevich, the director of «Autodesk-Polytechnic". In this regard, it’s necessary to mention the experience of the Polytechnic University in the successful practice of using Autodesk in educational and research activities. "With the opening of the international education and research center "Autodesk-Polytechnic," continues Y. Tuchkevich, "university departments and our students have gained the access to cloud-based technologies, free software, the possibility to communicate with specialists in a required area, as well as to participate in various Autodesk initiatives". All this is an effective tool for the transformation of educational process aimed at the development of innovative activity of the youth.
