Address of the Rector of SPbPU Andrei RUDSKOI in connection with the epidemiological situation

13 October 2020 675

Dear Polytechnics: teachers, staff and students!

You know that the epidemiological situation in St. Petersburg remains extremely tense: the daily increase in COVID-19 cases exceeds 500 people. To date, 35 students of our university are sick in the active phase. The sick and those in contact with them are isolated in dormitories. Unfortunately, there are also infected among the employees: 9 teachers and 8 employees are sick.

In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the university environment, Polytechnic University conducts a whole range of activities: students and staff are provided with disposable masks in all educational buildings; the premises are cleaned with the use of special disinfectants; non-contact temperature control at the entrance to the housing is carried out.

It should be noted that state-of-the-art modern control systems are installed in the educational buildings, providing accurate temperature measurement with the fixation of the control time and name in the database. An important measure to combat the spread of COVID-19 is the organization of special premises on the campus to isolate the sick people. A separate room is allocated for students who are at risk, i.e., those who have been in contact with a sick person or have signs of ARVI. I would also like to highlight special measures for disinfection of the premises of educational buildings, held on Saturdays and Sundays. Special disinfecting equipment has been purchased for the dormitories.

In order to conduct mass tests for COVID-19 in the event of a sharp deterioration in the epidemiological situation, Polytechnic University entered into an agreement with a specialized organization. At the moment, college students, campus staff, the Directorate of the HI and CEI have already been tested.

On the official social networks and on the SPbPU website, information about the rules of conduct and measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is constantly provided and updated, and interviews with leading virologists are posted to clarify the most frequently asked questions.

The operational headquarters of the university monitors the situation on a daily basis and provides me with information twice a day. We maintain constant interaction with the Rospotrebnadzor authorities of the city and districts, and district polyclinics No. 76 and No. 55.

At the same time, it should be noted that the behavior of students and staff in a number of cases does not meet the requirements of university orders. We are talking about non-observance of the mask regime and the minimum social distance. If the situation does not change, the administration will be forced to strengthen the measures applied to violators.

Based on the orders of the Governor of St. Petersburg and the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, an order has been prepared on additional restrictions and the transfer to a remote mode of the work of teachers and employees at risk.

I believe in the prudence of the staff and students of Polytechnic University and I hope that we will adequately go through an extremely difficult period in the life of the university. I urge each of you to remember that the health of a huge team of the Polytechnic depends on compliance with the rules of conduct.

SPbPU Rector A.I. RUDSKOI
