Appointment of New Minister of Education and Science in the Russian Federation

President of Russia V.V. Putin supported the proposal of Prime Minister D.A. Medvedev to appoint O.Y. Vasilyeva as the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

Olga Yurievna Vasilyeva is professor, Doctor of History. She started her professional career as a teacher, then worked at the Academy of Science, she has employment experience as a civil servant – both in the Government agencies and the Presidential Administration Office. Before this appointment she occupied the post of Deputy Chief of the Presidential Administration Office for Public Projects.

The Ministry of Education and Science claims that, in spite of the managerial reshuffle, they keep preparing for a new academic year. “The Ministry focuses on implementing the planned tasks and carries on working under normal conditions, the Ministry concentrates its efforts on preparing educational institutions for a new academic year”, - states the Ministry’s Press Service.
