RAU and SPbPU launched new joint projects following the conference on images of the past
Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University continues to actively develop an international scientific partnership. The international scientific and theoretical conference «Images of the Past: Representations, Historiography and Historical Memory» was successfully held at the Russian-Armenian University (RAU). The large-scale forum was co-organized by the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IGH RAS) and SPbPU.
The conference brought together leading scientists: historians, cultural scientists, philosophers, and political scientists to discuss topical issues of modern science. The participants focused on the role of historical memory and historical research in the formation of national identity, the peculiarities of the representation of the past in educational literature, as well as the problem of combating falsifications of history.
Anastasia Lisenkova, Director of the Higher School of Social Sciences of St. Petersburg State University, delivered a key report on «Silence as a cultural choice, algorithmic bias and digital commemoration» at the plenary session. In her speech, she touched upon the complex aspects of the interaction of history, culture and digital technologies in the modern world.
The participants were particularly interested in the specialized section «Sport as a factor in the formation of national identity in the Soviet and post-Soviet space», organized within the framework of the Russian Science Foundation Project No. 24-28-01790.
The visit of the delegation of the Higher School of Social Sciences of SPbPU to Yerevan had not only a scientific, but also an important practical result. As a result of negotiations with the leadership of the Russian-Armenian University and the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, specific agreements were reached that consolidate and expand the format of cooperation: advanced training courses for scientific and pedagogical staff of RAU on the «History of Russia», holding a joint scientific conference of SPbPU-RAU—IGS RAS, publishing joint articles in journals indexed in the Scopus database, implementing a new joint project to create a scientific electronic journal of RAU and HSSS SPbPU «Perspectiva Temporis».
The conference and the agreements reached were vivid evidence of the dynamically developing partnership between St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and the Russian-Armenian University. This cooperation not only strengthens academic ties, but also makes a significant contribution to the development of the humanities in the international space.
