SPbPU and JSC “Power Machines” Cooperation: from Science to Art
Peter the Great Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University and JSC “Power Machines” have been cooperating in different directions for many years. Being the national leader in power mechanical engineering, this concern is a strategic partner of Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University. In April, 2015 the SPbPU alumnus Roman Filippov was appointed the CEO of the company; in spring of the same year Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University and the “Power Machines” Company signed the cooperation agreement on the modern technologies development based on the latest scientific achievements. SPbPU representatives also took part in the VI Conference for young engineers, which was held on the premises of the enterprise on 12-13 November.
The participants were welcomed by the Senior Vice-Rector of Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University Vladimir V. Glukhov, the deputy CEO and technical director of the “Power Machines” Company Yury K. Petrenya, and the general designer of the company Vladimir A. Demyanov.
Approximately 100 people attended the conference, including the staff of the company, representatives of the design offices in leading Russian enterprises, and also master's students from SPbPU and Moscow Power Institute. Young specialists presented their developments in four sections: “Heat Power Engineering”, “Water Power Engineering”, “Electrical Engineering”, and “Electrical Machinery Engineering Technologies.”
The main purpose of the Conference for young engineers is searching for young and talented people, and their further professional development. The event is also regarded as the important platform to share the experience and to implement non-standard decisions. For example, this year the opening of the photo exhibition by the Senior Vice-Rector of SPbPU – Vladimir V. Glukhov – took place within the conference.
“We have been cooperating with Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University in scientific, technical, and educational areas for many years, and this year we decided to show the achievements of the university also in the humanities sphere, - says the deputy CEO and technical director of the “Power Machines” Company Yury K. Petrenya. – While discussing our cooperation, it occurred to us to combine artistic achievements of outstanding people from SPbPU with the external market, where the “Power Machines” Company works. At this exhibition V. V. Glukhov presented a number of his photographs from the countries and regions that would be of great interest for our concern's external activity.”
“Each of these photos is unique. I hope, my works will allow you to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and will transfer you into a different world and space even for an instant,” – Vladimir Victorovich shared with us.
