“Everyone has the opportunity to join big companies”: Gazprom’s Job Fair took place at Polytechnic University
On May 24, a Job Fair for Gazprom subsidiaries and organizations took place at St. Petersburg Polytechnic University as part of the Conference of Gazprom’s Backbone Universities. Representatives of the largest oil and gas company told about open vacancies, summer internships and features of work.
The event was opened by Elena Razinkina, Vice Rector for Educational Activities at SPbPU, who welcomed the participants:
Recently our university hosted the Career Forum, where many of our partners were represented. But Gazprom is the only corporation that holds a separate Job Fair at the university. It is a powerful partner of our university. Every year more than a hundred students are employed by Gazprom subsidiaries and find themselves.
In his speech, Andrey Frolkov, Deputy Head of Department — Head of Department, Gazprom, emphasized the importance of cooperation between the corporation and Polytechnic University:
I am glad that this career event is becoming a good tradition. We have been working with Polytechnic for a long and fruitful time in the field of vocational guidance, science, import substitution, we develop the Olympiad movement and many other things. Polytechnic students are responsible, goal-oriented, disciplined, intelligent young people. These are the qualities we value in our employees.
At the career event, 24 subsidiaries and organizations presented more than 75 job vacancies and more than 120 internship opportunities across Russia. The offers covered all areas of training, from mechanical engineering to law and information technology. The participants included such companies as Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, Gazprom Export, Gazprom Energoholding, Gazprom Invest, Gazprom Inform, Gazprom VNIIGAZ, Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk, and others.
The Polytechnic University Center for Assessment and Development of Professional Competences established in the interests of Gazprom as part of the ANO «Russia — Country of Opportunities», Presidential Platform project, also took part in the Career Fair. Students received advice on registration and testing on the RSV platform, as well as recommendations on how to use the results of soft skills assessment in employment. An important outcome of the fair was the signing of a cooperation agreement with TGK-1. Now Polytechnic University students will be accepted for internships/internships/jobs, taking into account the level of competencies.
Future graduates approached representatives of each organization, familiarized themselves with the exhibits, received answers to their questions, exchanged contacts and filled out questionnaires.
TGC-1 is a long-standing partner of SPbPU and a regular participant of the university’s Career Forums. Anna Lavrova, the head of group of TGC-1 recruiting and personnel assessment, and Artyom Batovsky, the leading expert of the recruiting and assessment group, told the students that the company invites students of IPMEiT, ISI, IE, IMMiT to practical training and the graduates to work. We need specialists in heat power engineering, thermal engineering, electrical engineering, chemical technology. Career growth in the leading producer of electric and thermal energy of the North-West interested many polytechnics.
There are also options for those who want to connect their future with other regions of Russia. For example, Sergey Antsiferov, a third-year student at ICST, came to Polytechnic University from Krasnoyarsk and would like to return to his home region after graduation.
I am trying to find an internship with subsequent employment related to programming or communication with people, shared Sergey.
It’s great that Polytechnic University regularly holds career forums and job fairs. Students should look for themselves, understand that everyone has the opportunity to join big companies, you just have to try to find them. He was very interested in offers from OOO Gazprom dobycha Irkutsk.
Tatiana Mashkovtseva, head of the HR department of labor relations and social development of OOO Gazprom dobycha Irkutsk, said that their company needs many specialists, from plumbers to plant managers:
We offer vacancies related to different areas: gas production, petrochemicals, transportation, innovation, operation of shift camps, human resources. You can work in the office or on a rotational basis in the Kovykta field. There are Polytechnic University graduates among our employees and they occupy leading positions.
Darya Tutueva, the 1st year master’s degree student of IPMEiT was looking for vacancies which will be connected with her master’s degree degree work:
I want to test some of my hypotheses and probably propose changes to companies. My master’s thesis is related to improving accounting and generally financial processes with foreign economic activity. I took Asian countries, specifically India. I am sure it is a very actual direction of development.
Fair participants noted that every year the number of polytechnic students who found their future exactly in Gazprom organizations increases. And such career events, where students, graduates and employers can find each other, help in this.
