Opening of Polytech-Tangshan Center

A delegation of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University took part in the long-awaited opening ceremony of the Polytech-Tangshan Preparatory Center, which took place on May 13, 2025 in the Chinese city of Tangshan.

The project, whose agreement was signed back in March 2022, has finally gained official status, overcoming a three-year pause caused by the pandemic. Despite the forced postponement, the center has already proved its effectiveness: graduates from Tangshan successfully enter Polytechnic.

The ceremony was held at Yongping Secondary School with the participation of key partners. Welcome speeches were delivered by Zhang Guofu, head of Tangshan Oriental Education Corporation, Dmitry Rogozin, head of Friendship Bridge Company, and Pavel Nedelko, assistant vice-rector of SPbPU. The Polytechnic University delegation was also represented by Natalia Chicherina, Director of the Humanities Institute, her deputy Tatiana Nam and Andrei Koshkin, Senior Lecturer of the Higher School of Linguistics and Pedagogy.

The program of the visit included not only official events, but also active interaction with future applicants. During three days, the delegation visited Tangshan Oriental School, Experimental School and State High School No. 1, where they made presentations of SPbPU educational programs. A special excitement was caused by a quiz about our university and St. Petersburg: the most intelligent school students received souvenirs.

The opening of the Polytechnic-Tangshan Center was a symbolic step in strengthening Russian-Chinese educational ties.
