The main day of SPIEF. SPbPU at Expoforum

On the third day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Rector Andrei Rudskoi visited the main platform in Expoforum, held negotiations with foreign and Russian partners, and signed a memorandum of cooperation with Gazpromneft — Industrial Innovations.

Another step in cooperation with the leading Russian industrial companies was the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between Gazpromneft — Industrial Innovations and universities, research centers, engineering companies and enterprises to create a scientific and technological platform for development and implementation of new technologies and products for oil refining industry. This is how SPbPU has become a member of Gazpromneft’s Science and Technology Platform for developing refining and petrochemical technologies. The agreement was signed by Mikhail Nikulin, General Director of Gazpromneft-Industrial Innovations, and Rector Andrei Rudskoi.

Cooperation with Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University will be directed to the search of production technologies demanded by the domestic market of composites and polymers. Experts from the Technological Center of Industrial Innovation of Gazpromneft will also support the development of training programs for specialists in the field of polymer chemistry. Young scientists and students of the university will be provided with opportunities to work on applied tasks, which are solved by Gazpromneft-Industrial Innovations.

Two meetings were held at the forum between the Polytechnic University administration and foreign partners. Rector of SPbPU Andrei Rudskoi and Vice-Rector for International Affairs Dmitry Arseniev held talks with the official delegation of Invest India, the National Agency for Promotion and Facilitation of Investments.

Polytechnic University directors offered the representatives of Invest India different variants of cooperation within the framework of Startup India program to promote Russian startups to the Indian market and Indian startups to the Russian market, and presented projects of the International Polytechnic Accelerator for promotion in the Indian market. At the meeting table, the possibility of assistance by the Invest India agency in attracting Indian industrial companies to invest in high-tech developments of Polytechnic University, which are in demand on the Indian market, was discussed. Agency’s representatives are ready to assist in attracting Indian universities to implement scientific projects under the India-Russia and BRICS bilateral funding programs, to organize cooperation of Polytechnic University with industrial and professional associations in India in different directions.

During the meeting with the official delegation of Tsinghua University (China), Andrei Rudskoi noted that now it is very important to increase the mobility of students from both countries in connection with the lifting of COVID restrictions, their participation in summer and winter schools. The meeting also discussed the implementation of joint undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate education network programs, cooperation in training highly qualified personnel (PhD students and doctoral candidates), joint postgraduate programs, mutual participation in the dissertation councils, and conducting joint defenses.

Rector of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Andrei Rudskoi told the partners that the issue of joint postgraduate study at the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications and the Tsinghua University School of Aerospace Engineering is being settled now.

At the end of the meeting Andrei Rudskoi and Tsinghua University Vice President Jiang Peixue signed an act of joint professional development program «International Economic Partnership in Energy: China» ordered by PAO Gazpromneft. A total of 50 people were trained. Establishing direct contacts with Chinese and Russian industrial companies for targeted joint training of highly qualified personnel, implementation of advanced training and retraining programs is now one of the most effective forms of cooperation between partner universities.
