More than 1,500 participants from all over the world competed for the right to become part of the finals. During the trip, the finalists get acquainted with advanced educational practices and the media environment of Russian universities, and also prepare materials for foreign audiences about education and culture in Russia.

During their visit to Polytechnic, the foreign guests were first given a campus tour by representatives of the student media center Polymer. The competition finalists were taken through the Main Building, where they looked into the library’s reading room. There they were told about the university’s history and traditions. Then they went to the Polytechnic Tower. The delegation toured the laboratories of digital manufacturing, 3D printing, and the production workshop. The international students also learned about the robots of the “Omnivores” team and even witnessed a small battle with their own eyes.

The last stop of the tour was the Research Building. The guests were shown a model of the campus, after which they visited the TV studio. It made a great impression on them. Everyone listened with interest about how it operates, what equipment is used there, and what and how they film. The young bloggers recorded many of their videos there.

I really liked at the Polytech! I especially remember the warm welcome, the detailed tour, and, most importantly, the classes on artificial intelligence and the Russian language. Overall, this media expedition allowed me to see how media and journalism unite people, cultures, and ideas. I also managed to reconsider some of my ideas about Russia and understand that sometimes the best stories are born from observations, questions, and a willingness to listen to other people, shared one of the competition finalists, Ifeoluwa Oguncola.
