Last week, Polytechnic University hosted the main international musical event of the year — the «Intervision» concert dedicated to Russian Language Day. Students from 64 countries took part in the celebration. The event, which filled the hall to capacity, proved that the Russian language unites continents, cultures, and hearts.

Polytechnic University hosted the main international musical event of the year — the “Intervision” concert dedicated to Russian Language Day

The concert opened with a ceremonial parade of flags. To the sound of a march, the audience welcomed representatives of all 64 participating countries. «Flags raised, hearts beating in unison,» noted the hosts.

The first guest was a student from Algeria, Dhikra Zorgani, who performed the poignant song «Mother Earth.» A video sequence created by a neural network with images of Russian folklore underscored the depth of the composition.

International students performed Russian songs

A student from Cameroon, Ntamak Ngue Nazaret, transported the audience to a white night on the banks of the Neva — his performance of the song «White Night» was accompanied by views of St. Petersburg’s embankments and drawbridges. And a Vietnamese student, Nguyen Binh Minh, made the hall fall silent with «Dark Night» — beneath the vaults resonated the memory of the Great Patriotic War, as footage of war chronicles changed on the screen.

Folk dances were performed at the event

Russian flavor was added by the ensemble «Inspiration» with two rousing folk dances. Then a true medley began: students from Africa, Turkmenistan, and Indonesia mixed rhythms, costumes, and smiles in a dance battle.

Particular delight was caused by the number «My Only One» — at that moment, photos of beloved teachers appeared on the screen. The audience sang along. And after the number, real chaos broke out backstage: «Who took my belt for the rock number?», «Where is the left shoe?» — the hosts ironically commented on the creative chaos from which magic is born.

Liu Yihan, who transformed into Viktor Tsoi, performed the song “Change!”

A skit called «Oriental Tales» with an international cast immersed the audience in an atmosphere of bazaars and mysteries, while a short humorous sketch «Teacher Chat Correspondence» drew bursts of laughter. A change of genre was provided by a student from China, Liu Yihan, who transformed into Viktor Tsoi: the legendary «Change!» was performed with rock chords and black glasses.

A lyrical note was added by a guest from Turkmenistan with the song «Give Women Flowers» — during the performance, boys from the audience began handing flowers to female spectators, creating an atmosphere of universal tenderness.

The culmination was a flash mob to the song «Different»: students from different countries, dressed in bright costumes, proved that differences are not an obstacle to friendship. Then the song «Graduation» was performed in honor of the end of the academic year — all concert participants came on stage.

The final chord was «Russia» accompanied by a huge waving tricolor and small flags in the hands of the performers.

All spectators greatly enjoyed the performances

«Russian Language Day» is evidence that language is not grammar and rules. It is love, understandable without translation.
