"Tutor School — 2026" at Polytechnic University: new participants ready to help international students
At Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, the results of the spring semester work of the «Tutor School — 2026» — an inter‑university project of the SPbPU student association Tutor Forces — have been summed up. Based on the results of the selection, training, and project defense, the team of tutors has been joined by ten new participants from various institutes of Polytechnic University.
Work on the projects continued throughout the entire semester. At the first stage, the organizers conducted a two‑day interview, in which more than 50 candidates wishing to join the team and help international students of the university took part.
The candidates who passed the selection were invited to a two‑day training workshop. The participants became acquainted with the activities of the association and its projects, and received
Then, over the course of two weeks, five teams, under the guidance of experienced tutors, prepared their own projects on key topics for the association: safety and tolerance, event organization, the life of an international student, and adaptation to moving to a new country. The result was a project defense before the university leadership. The projects were evaluated according to several criteria: relevance to the university, impact on youth and youth policy, feasibility, and contribution to solving specific university tasks. Based on the results of the defense, ten candidates from various institutes of Polytechnic University became full members of the SPbPU Tutor Forces team.
At a meeting of the tutor council, each newcomer was assigned a mentor from among the experienced members of the organization. Over the course of a week, the mentors met with their mentees in an informal setting to discuss their further development trajectory within the association and at the university. Special attention was paid to growth opportunities in the field of youth policy at Polytechnic University: for most first‑year students, this information proved to be the most useful.
The «Tutor School — 2026» has concluded, but for the renewed team, this marks the beginning of active work: new participants have already become involved in preparing the association’s upcoming projects and in shaping an environment for international students of Polytechnic University.
