Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan: Polytech Team at International Fairs in the CIS countries

Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University took part in a series of educational exhibitions “International Education”. The exhibitions took place in three CIS countries: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. SPbPU was represented by Nikolay SNEGIREV, Deputy Director of the Career Center and Pre-University Training, and Anastasia SIDOROVA, Senior Manager of the Admission Office for International Students. Our university participated in the events together with the universities, schools and study agencies from over 25 countries, including Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, the USA, the UAE and many others.

SPbPU Representatives took part in international educational exhibitions in the CIS countries

A series of international exhibitions began in Kazakhstan: events were held in Nur-Sultan and Almaty. As well, the exhibitions were held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). In total, the exhibitions were visited by over two thousand people. Most of them are graduate students and final year students. It is important to mention that a significant percentage of visitors in Kazakhstan were high school students. Some of them mentioned that they choose a future profession in advance and often take part in educational exhibitions.

Over 2 thousand potential foreign applicants visited international exhibitions in the CIS countries

In terms of choosing an educational programs future applicants are interested in the following: in Kazakhstan the most popular SPbPU areas of training are electrical engineering, economics, biotechnology and design, for Uzbekistan it is civil engineering, economics, electrical and heat power engineering and linguistics, most participants from Kyrgyzstan were mainly interested in economics, biotechnology and design. Many participants asked questions specifically about Polytech's international educational programs. By the way, in recent years, SPbPU representatives have noted a growing interest among CIS countries in programs taught in English. In four cities the representatives of the Polytechnic University have made about 300 contacts of potential applicants and carried out over 600 consultations on admission process. In addition, in Nur-Sultan and Almaty, Nikolai SNEGIREV made the presentation “Great to be. Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University”. In his presentation he commented in detail on the frequently asked questions about admission and studies in Russia in general and at SPbPU in particular.

Representatives of SPbPU delivered presentations for potential international applicants in the CIS countries

“We are always up to date with the latest trends and we carefully monitor the ever-changing interests of potential foreign applicants. In particular, we focus on the presentation of international educational programs. Our experience shows that more and more foreign citizens are showing increased interest in these areas. Foreign students are attracted by the fact that SPbPU, being the center of academic mobility, has a set of joint programs with leading universities in the world,” commented the Head of the International Education Office Evgeniya SATALKINA.
