Education is an important channel for the development of understanding and friendship, and the two sides intend to deepen cooperation in this area. The first Sino-Russian Education and Culture Forum was an important milestone for the formal deepening of educational and cultural interaction.

The President of the Chinese Association for International Educational Exchanges Liu Limin made a welcoming speech

Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, sent a video message in which he expressed his hope for fruitful results in the field of education between Russia and China. Russian-Chinese cooperation has entered a new era: political, economic and humanitarian ties are rapidly developing. In the conditions of the modern world, joint educational programs are of particular importance. Universities implement more than 100 joint educational programs and have established about 30 joint institutes of various profiles both as part of Chinese universities and as separate legal entities, Igor Pozdnyakov, Counselor for Education of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the PRC, emphasized the importance of the forum.

Tatiana Sytnikova and Zhanna Trunkova also presented successful practices of SPbPU at the seminar «Specifics of Working in the Chinese Education Market». The participants familiarized themselves with information on quotas for Chinese applicants, as well as special quotas allocated by Chinese educational institutions for Russians. Special attention was paid to the prospects of cooperation with private Chinese universities. The seminar included presentations of Chinese recruiting agencies, which allowed the participants not only to get valuable information, but also to organize live communication, contributing to the exchange of experience and establishment of partnerships.

Polytechnic University’s mount was visited by more than 500 people

About 400 universities from more than 20 countries, including 30 institutions of higher education from different regions of Russia, were represented at this year’s exhibition.

Polytechnic University’s mount has traditionally been very popular with Chinese school and university students. This year’s participants were most interested in such areas of training as energy, information technology, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, mechanical engineering and construction. More than 500 people learned about bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and received advice on applying to graduate school.

The popularity of the exhibition grows every year due to the increasing interest of Chinese youth in studying abroad. There are more than 2000 Chinese students studying at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, which testifies to the high level of attractiveness of Russian education. Moreover, the Joint Polytechnic Institute of SPbPU and Xi’an University of Technology has been successfully operating for the second year already, which emphasizes the strengthening of educational ties between the countries. As a result, the exhibition becomes an important platform for presenting educational programs and opportunities offered by both Russian and foreign educational institutions, said Dmitry Arseniev, Vice Rector for International Affairs of SPbPU.
