Some 10 Countries Took Part in the “WE ARE TOGETHER” International Flash Mob

Polytechnic University hosted the “WE ARE TOGETHER” international flash mob. It aimed at supporting all students, and first of all international students who now are away from home. Many foreigners stay at SPbPU during the pandemic, while some Polytechnic University students are presently studying abroad.

The Tutor Forces student service and PolyUnion student club suggested to hold the flashmob. Both organizations operate on the basis of the Higher School of International Educational Programs, St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The participants needed to shoot a video or take a photo with a leaflet that says “WE ARE TOGETHER” in their native language and upload it to social networks with the tag #TogetherWithPolytech.

Russian media actively supported the event: Petersburg Journal, Neva News, TV channels Saint Petersburg and Gorod+ along with many others  placed information about the international flash mob. And, of course, we’ve got strong support from Russian and foreign students and partners. Videos and photographs came from Germany, Italy, Poland, China, Morocco, Georgia, Mongolia and Djibouti. A kind and inspiring video was composed from all the materials received, and now everyone can watch it on the SPbPU website and on the university’s social networks.

Let us remind you that the Tutor Forces and the student PolyUnion Interclub are engaged in helping foreign students fill in the application form in Russian or English to receive a lump-some material assistance and obtain a MIR plastic cards  (for those who don’t have it yet).

Besides this, speaking clubs are working on the PolyUnion virtual platform. On Tuesdays there are days of the Russian language; on Thursdays they hold days of the English language, while Saturday is devoted to international communication: participants get acquainted with the features of Italian, German, French, Chinese and other languages. Foreign students also conduct classes. The schedule of club events is published in advance on social networks.

Polytechnic University continues to receive words of support from its foreign partners. Recently, we received a warm wish from Leibniz University of Hanover, a strategic partner of SPbPU in Germany. “I wish all our colleagues, wherever they are in the world, that they and their families get through these challenging times in good health, that they still find something positive in their daily lives alongside all the difficult situations and personal and institutional challenges. Let us all work together to make the best of this situation. Keep your distance and stay healthy!” wrote Director of International Office of Leibniz University of Hanover Dr. Birgit BARDEN-LÄUFER.

«Желаем“We wish you strength and patience, hopes for a speedy recovery of our planet, not to lose heart and, of course, take care!” wrote colleagues from the Neo-Consulting partner recruiting company (Uzbekistan). The University of Granada (Spain) sent an inspiring video in which the university’s choir and orchestra performed the university anthem Gaudeamus remotely from their homes. “We would like to reiterate our best wishes to you all at this troubling time, and hope that this message finds you all in good health and in good spirits to overcome this enormous challenge to our health systems and, indeed, to many of the aspects of our day-to day life which we have been taking for granted,” wished the University of Granada International Team.

We join in the words of support to our students, colleagues and partners, we wish everyone good health and we believe that everything will definitely be fine, because we are together!
